Thousands gather for the largest International Mining Conference in the Southern Hemisphere
The doors have opened to the highly anticipated International Mining and Resources Conference + Expo (IMARC), with thousands of industry leaders, innovators, and policy makers from over 120 countries converging on ICC Sydney.
This year’s conference is set to break records, with more than 9,000 delegates, 600 speakers and over 500 exhibitors on site, positioning IMARC 2024 as the premier platform for the global mining and resources sector.
“It’s more than just a conference. IMARC is the ultimate hub for essential conversations on sustainability, technology, and collaboration that will drive the sector towards a more responsible and innovative future,” said Anita Richards, Chief Operating Officer at IMARC.
IMARC 2024 showcases the global industry’s best-practice in sustainability, safety and productivity and the latest in cutting edge technology, including exploration, AI, electrification and automation across an impressive 20,000 square metres of exhibition space.
Opening the three-day event, internationally acclaimed speaker and leadership development executive Holly Ransom said, “As the world races to secure what will power the next generation, we all know that we need to rethink how we operationalise the energy transition, leveraging new innovations and deep partnerships across the sector.”
And for Australian industry, IMARC is an important opportunity to meet buyers, investors and future partners from across the world.
“By connecting global and local leaders, and fostering impactful partnerships, IMARC is helping shape an industry that is resilient, forward-thinking, and prepared to meet the challenges of tomorrow,” added Ms Richards.
From decarbonisation technologies to advanced AI applications in mining, this year’s program offers a glimpse into the future of sustainable resource management. Key highlights include:
- A Focus on Sustainability and the Circular Economy: IMARC will host critical discussions around sustainable mining, recycling, and resource recovery, including a keynote from Dr. Cathy Foley, Australia’s Chief Scientist, in which she will explore resource-focused advice and recommendations from Australia’s Ministerial Advisory Group on the Circular Economy.
