Australia has joined six other countries in a U.S.-led coalition to collaborate on AI, tech supply chains and infrastructure.
The Pax Silica Declaration reflects a shared commitment to advance mutual prosperity, technological progress, and economic security, according to the U.S. State Department.
The other signatories are Israel, Japan, South Korea and Britain.
According to the Australian Department of Industry, Science and Resources (DISR), the Pax Silica Summit strengthens Australia’s collaboration with the US and other countries on supply chain resilience.
“It shows our shared commitment to developing secure supply chains that are critical to ensuring technological progress and economic security in Australia’s interests.
“Our participation in the summit reflects our approach to building on Australia’s comparative strengths in critical minerals, artificial intelligence and critical technologies.”
DISR said signing the declaration supports its focus on fostering a competitive digital ecosystem and strengthening economic resilience in the Asia Pacific region.
The countries agreed to partner on strategic stacks of the global technology supply chain, including, but not limited to, software applications and platforms, frontier foundation models, information connectivity and network infrastructure, computers and semiconductors, advanced manufacturing, transportation logistics, minerals refining and processing, and energy.
The signatories also agreed to further strengthen economic and national security cooperation, including taking complementary actions as appropriate to address non-market policies and practices and enhancing investment security.
