The Western Australian Parliament has passed legislation to make it easier for licensed tradespeople and professionals to work interstate through the JobPass.
Minister Assisting the Prime Minister and Cabinet and Federal Member for Tangney, Ben Morton, said the JobPass will save individuals and businesses time, money and paperwork, so workers can work where the work is.
“By removing the need for tradies and other licensed professionals to get another licence when they move state, we’re making it easier and cheaper for them to make that move.
“As business and consumer demands change, JobPass saves time and money for businesses to hire and mobilise employees – this will benefit businesses wanting to hire fly-in, fly-out workers in regional WA.
“Across Australia, JobPass is anticipated to benefit over 168,000 workers each year and add $2.4 billion to the Australian economy over the next 10 years.
“State and territory governments across Australia – both Liberal and Labor – have made changes to their laws to make it easier and cheaper for everyday Australians to get work.”
JobPass is currently in place in Western Australia, New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania, the Australian Capital Territory and the Northern Territory.
