Mineral Resources Limited (ASX: MIN) has announced a temporary suspension of haulage operations on its Onslow Iron haul road in Western Australia after a road train incident on March 17, 2025.
The company reported that the rear two trailers of a road train tipped onto their side, while the prime mover and first trailer remained upright.
No injuries were reported, and an internal investigation into the cause is underway.
The incident prompted WorkSafe WA to issue a notice on March 18, requiring enhanced controls and risk mitigation measures for road train operations.
In response, Mineral Resources has reportedly strengthened traffic management and safety measures on the haul road.
The company is currently engaging with WorkSafe WA to address the concerns raised in the notice.
While haulage via the Onslow Iron haul road is paused, operations are continuing using contractor vehicles on alternative routes.
Mineral Resources confirmed that its transhippers will continue loading ocean-going vessels during this period, ensuring minimal disruption to iron ore shipments.
The company expects to resume haul road operations without affecting its FY25 iron ore volume guidance.
This marks the sixth incident involving rollovers on the flood-damaged haul road since August 2024.
The $2.7 billion infrastructure, jointly owned by Mineral Resources and Morgan Stanley Infrastructure Partners, has faced challenges due to cyclonic flooding in the Pilbara region.
Repairs and resurfacing efforts are ongoing.
