Jacon Equipment, a business unit of the Maas Group (ASX MGH) has announced a distribution agreement with specialist tunnelling and mining company Nishio T&M Co, to sell and service its equipment in the Japanese market.
Wes Maas, CEO of Maas, said this agreement with Nishio T&M – which is the latest distribution agreement announced in key global markets – would give Jacon vital exposure in the important Japanese tunnelling and mining sector.
“Nishio T&M already offers a significant line of specialist tunnelling and mining products and services to the Japanese market. The addition of Jacon’s line of products will be highly complementary to Nishio’s offerings,” he said.
“Since its establishment in 1983, Nishio T&M has established a reputation throughout Japan for the quality of its products, and the level of service and support it offers to customers.”
Nishio T&M’s operations include the lease, rental, sales and service/repair of tunnelling and mining equipment, along with construction equipment rental and labour hire services.
“Many of the services offered by Nishio in its market area align closely with the range of services and products offered through Jacon and Maas, so our two organisations make an excellent fit,” Maas said.
“This agreement is also a reflection of the respect and recognition of Jacon’s products and support structure in this important international market.
“We are honoured to be partnering with Nishio T&M in Japan, and believe this relationship will be strong well into the future,” he said.
Hidekazu Nishio, President of Nishio T&M, said his company was honoured to have the opportunity to partner with Jacon and Maas through its signing of an exclusive agency contract to represent Jacon machines in Japan.
“Jacon’s range of innovative, safe, high technology and high quality shotcrete machines, concrete mixer trucks and other machines, will have strong appeal with our customers throughout Japan,” he said.
“I am sure these machines will be useful for all our clients, including several contractors and subcontractors who are doing tunnel construction projects in Japan.
“Mountains occupy 70% of our country, and combined with our frequent natural disasters, we are actively carrying out major infrastructure developments in line with Japan’s national resilience policy.
“These include highway developments, as well as construction of new maglev railway – the Linear Chuo Shinkansen – and high-speed railway lines – for example, the Hokuriku Shinkansen and others,” said Nishio.
“In addition, there are many hydroelectric power plant headrace construction projects currently underway as part of Japan’s carbon-neutral energy developments.”
Nishio said the company was aiming for an 80% share of the shotcreting and specialist tunnelling equipment rental market in Japan.
“The distribution agreement with Jacon will be critical in us achieving this 80% target, supported by our own shotcreting machine and our network of five service branches across Japan,” he said.
