Patriot Resources Limited has reported encouraging copper assay results from its recently completed geological field mapping and sampling program at Target B1 within the Kitumba 27715 Project in Zambia.
The results confirm consistent copper mineralisation across a 40-metre strike and highlight both lateral and along-strike potential for extensions.
The company’s latest program involved detailed channel sampling across two historical trenches, OTR01 and OTR02, complemented by grab sampling from two artisanal pits situated between the trenches.
The best results from the program came from trench OTR02, which averaged 0.19% copper over 7 metres, while grab samples from the artisanal pits returned grades averaging 0.34% copper across a 10-metre wide carbonaceous quartzite horizon.
Notably, one pit-grab sample yielded 0.80% copper, reinforcing the mineral potential of the target zone.
According to Patriot, surface sampling and field mapping have now defined a 40-metre copper-bearing strike trending northeast–southwest, with mineralisation still open in multiple directions.
Importantly, trench OTR02 was terminated prematurely within copper-bearing quartzite, further supporting the potential for mineralisation to extend laterally beyond the exposed section.
The Kitumba 27715 exploration licence spans approximately 25,511 hectares and is located 13 kilometres northwest of Mumbwa and about 150 kilometres northwest of Lusaka.
Target B1 lies 15 kilometres southeast of the Sinomine Kitumba deposit, within the highly prospective Kitumba Iron Oxide Copper Gold corridor.
Here, the Hook Granitoid Suite intrudes carbonate-rich and siliciclastic sedimentary sequences of the Katanga Supergroup, creating favourable geological settings for copper mineralisation.
Fieldwork at Target B1 included the re-excavation and cleaning of historical trenches for geological mapping and systematic sampling.
Each trench measured on average 59 metres in length, 1 metre in width and 1 metre deep, and intersected sequences of sandstone intercalated with shales and quartzite.
The copper-hosting quartzite horizon displayed limonitic and carbonaceous textures, brecciation, and visible chalcopyrite and malachite staining.
Patriot collected a total of 144 rock-chip samples, including QAQC control samples, which were assayed by a certified laboratory and confirmed the presence of copper mineralisation.
To advance exploration at Target B1, Patriot has outlined a follow-up program consisting of 600 metres of trenching, with trenches spaced approximately 60 metres apart, to better test for lateral and strike continuity of the mineralisation.
In addition, the company plans to undertake a 30-hectare Induced Polarisation survey aimed at mapping subsurface sulphide zones and advancing the understanding of the copper system.
