Liontown Resources Ltd. has partnered with Metalshub to launch its first digital spot sale spodumene concentrate auction.
The company will streamline and digitalise spot sales of Kathleen Valley spodumene concentrate to its global customers, allowing buyers to submit bids and purchase the product directly through the platform. The move will enable transparent pricing, efficient processes and competitive access to global buyers, according to Liontown.
Liontown CEO Tony Ottaviano said that establishing a transparent and liquid price index is “crucial to establishing a long-term sustainable lithium industry”.
“Utilising Metalshub for our first digital spot sales auction will improve price transparency for spodumene, giving more customers an opportunity to bid on Liontown cargoes,” Ottaviano said.
Liontown will host a series of bidding events for Kathleen Valley spodumene concentrate in 2026, but the first auction for 10,000 tonnes of spodumene concentrate will be held on November 19.
Kathleen Valley is one of the world’s first underground lithium mines. First production from Kathleen Valley’s fourth-generation process plant occurred in July 2024.
