Metallium Ltd. has secured a long-term offtake agreement with US materials refiner Indium Corp.
Metallium’s US subsidiary Flash Metals USA has agreed to a binding 10-year offtake agreement with Indium, establishing a structured commercial pathway for the sale of high-value critical metals, including gallium (Ga), germanium (Ge), indium, tin, copper, and gold.
The critical metals will be recovered from secondary raw materials and electronic scrap using Metallium’s proprietary Flash Joule Heating (FJH) technology at its Texas-based recycling operations.
The agreement comes at a time of heightened global focus on the concentration of critical metal processing. Gallium and germanium are critical to advanced semiconductors, AI infrastructure, and sophisticated defence systems, but their supply chains remain vulnerable to geopolitical shifts.
In response, the US has increased focus on domestic supply chains and is encouraging private sector investment in these supply chains.
Metallium CEO, Michael Walshe, said the agreement is an important step in commercialising its US recycling platform.
“Critical metals, and specifically their midstream processing and refining, remain highly concentrated in a limited number of jurisdictions, not all of which are aligned with Western supply chain priorities, underscoring the need for secure, domestic capability,” Walshe said.
“Establishing a long-term offtake with a U.S. specialty metals leader strengthens our pathway to monetise recovered critical metals as we scale.”
Indium Corporation is a global heavyweight in the electronics and semiconductor markets.
Indium CEO Ross Berntson noted that the collaboration helps unlock the largely untapped potential of secondary feedstocks, such as electronic scrap, to create a more sustainable domestic supply.
Under the terms of the deal, pricing for the recovered metals will be determined by a formula indexed against global commodity prices.
The announcement coincides with strong progress at Metallium’s Gator Point Technology Campus in Chambers County, Texas.
Commissioning activities are advancing across the flowsheet, with the next major milestone, the simultaneous operation of multiple FJH units, expected by the June quarter.
This scale-up will represent a key inflection point in validating the industrialisation of Metallium’s recycling platform.
