Metso has agreed to acquire Brazilian bronze alloy components manufacturer Italbronze Ltda. in a move designed to strengthen its crushing aftermarket operations and enhance worldwide supply chain resilience.
The acquisition aligns with Metso’s broader corporate approach to accelerate aftermarket growth and safeguard the availability of essential spare parts, ultimately supporting reliable equipment operations and uptime for industrial clients.
In addition to mining and aggregates, Italbronze serves automotive, agriculture, and other industrial markets.
Founded 67 years ago in the Greater São Paulo area, Italbronze has served as a trusted supplier to Metso for more than three decades.
The transaction deepens this long-standing partnership, securing critical manufacturing capabilities and specialist know-how for Metso’s crushing equipment business.
Approximately 470 employees will transition to Metso upon completion of the deal, bringing extensive expertise in casting, machining, and quality control.
Heikki Metsälä, President of Metso’s Services business area, noted the value of the purchase.
“This acquisition secures a critical manufacturing capability for our growing crushing business. By combining Italbronze’s decades of bronze alloy manufacturing expertise with Metso’s global service and supply network, we can further enhance supply security and delivery performance for customers worldwide,” Metsälä said.
Jaime Ortiz Jimenez, Statutory Director at Italbronze, welcomed the agreement, stating that it ensures continuity for clients and staff while opening up new pathways for growth as part of an established international organisation.
Existing Italbronze clients will continue to receive the high standards of products and responsive service they expect.
Both parties have agreed to keep the financial details of the transaction confidential. Metso confirmed that the acquisition is not anticipated to have a material impact on its overall financial performance.
Completion of the transaction remains subject to customary regulatory clearances and antitrust approvals. It is expected to be finalised by the end of 2026.
Metso, headquartered in Espoo, Finland, continues to expand its global footprint, delivering sustainable technologies and services to the minerals processing, metals refining, and aggregates sectors across roughly 50 countries.
