Rimfire Pacific Mining has appointed experienced mining executive Bronwyn Barnes as Executive Chair to lead its next growth phase, supported by a successful AU$2.3 million capital raising to advance its pure-play scandium strategy.
The company raised the additional capital through the issue of 287.5 million new shares at 0.8 cents per share.
The fresh capital will fund high-impact drilling programs, resource expansion, ongoing metallurgical studies, and the advancement of Rimfire’s proprietary low-iron processing methodology as the company works towards establishing a leading Australian scandium business.
Barnes, who brings over three decades of international resources leadership and currently serves as Executive Chair of Indiana Resources, will assume the executive role effective September 1.
“Scandium is transitioning from an emerging critical mineral to one of growing strategic importance, with demand accelerating across advanced manufacturing, AI data centre, defence, and aerospace industries,” Barnes said.
“The board’s focus is advancing technical and commercial pathways that will maximise the value of these assets.”
As part of the leadership transition, current Chairman Ian McCubbing will move to a Non-Executive Director role, while CEO David Hutton transitions to Technical Director to oversee exploration, resource development, and feasibility studies. Non-Executive Director Andrew Knox will retire following the upcoming AGM.
“Bronwyn has a strong track record of building strategic partnerships, securing funding and delivering the commercial outcomes required to create long-term shareholder value,” said outgoing Chairman McCubbing.
“As Rimfire advances its scandium portfolio, her expertise in taking projects from resource definition through technical development and into commercial execution will be invaluable.”
Rimfire’s refreshed leadership and balance sheet come as global end-users actively seek secure, diversified supply chains for high-performance scandium-aluminium alloys and next-generation clean energy technologies.
The company’s strategy is centred on expanding and upgrading its scandium resource base while advancing the technical, metallurgical and engineering work required to support future development.
In parallel, Rimfire will pursue commercial opportunities and strategic partnerships that enhance the value of its scandium assets and position the company to participate in rapidly emerging global supply chains.
