Specialist Australian engineering firm Chute Technology is celebrating 10 years of solving some of the most complex materials handling challenges across the mining, resources, minerals processing, and ports sectors.
As the industry pivots towards automation and sustainability, the Charlestown-based company is evolving its approach, offering holistic solutions that optimise flow, minimise downtime, and reduce environmental impact.
With a portfolio of more than 100 completed chute and conveyor projects spanning ports, surface plants, and underground operations, Chute Technology has built a reputation for responsiveness, practical insight, and engineering discipline.
Principal Engineer Dennis Pomfret noted: “Customers come to us because we align with their vision, we get it right the first time, and we deliver solutions that make their operations more productive and profitable.”
The company’s expertise covers a broad spectrum, including coal and hard rock mining, ports, and both surface and underground environments.
“Chute Technology’s success stems from its investment in both people and tools — combining deep technical knowledge with on-site experience and a clear understanding of client goals,” said Pomfret.
Recent large-scale projects, delivered in partnership with sister company DPE Engineering, highlight Chute Technology’s evolution from problem solvers to trusted partners on multi-million-dollar developments.
Notable examples include the full mechanical design of a 27-conveyor remote underground mining system completed in under a year, an 800-metre stacker conveyor for a Queensland mine valued at $26 million, and the $11 million refurbishment of a major NSW underground mine, which included five kilometres of new trunk conveyors.
Senior Mechanical Engineer Gian Naldi added: “We’re not afraid of the new. We constantly push the boundaries to deliver designs that not only work on paper, but work in the real world, and deliver a clear and measurable return to our clients.”
“These are great examples that showcase how our capabilities have grown from individual material handling problems, through to utilising multiple disciplines of engineering across multi-million dollar mining operations,” said Naldi.
Naldi emphasises that success is ultimately measured by the success of customers, achieved by making tasks easier, reducing rework, helping customers make money, and focusing on long-term partnerships that continuously deliver value.
