Mining and civil contractor NRW Holdings Ltd. has secured a major five-year contract extension valued at approximately $960 million to continue operations at the Karara iron ore mine in Western Australia’s mid-west region.
The contract extends the contractor’s tenure at the site beyond its current end date of March 2027 through to February 2032.
Under the terms of the extended agreement, the scope of work delivered by NRW remains largely unchanged. The contractor will continue providing core mining services across the operation, including load and haul, drill and blast, and associated ancillary site services.
The multi-year deal provides significant long-term order book visibility for the Perth-based contractor and solidifies its ongoing relationship with Karara Mining.
NRW CEO Jules Pemberton welcomed the extension, citing the operational track record established by the company’s workforce on site.
“We are pleased to secure this significant contract extension, which reflects the strong relationship developed between NRW and Karara and the consistent performance of our team to deliver safe and reliable operations at site,” Pemberton said.
The AU$960 million agreement reinforces NRW’s position as a primary contractor in Western Australia’s iron ore sector, where its mining division manages large-scale earthmoving, load and haul, and drill and blast operations across major resource projects.
