The Australia-Africa Minerals & Energy Group (AAMEG) has announced its nominees for the third instalment of the annual AAMEG Africa Awards – the foremost event recognising the resilience of Australian explorers, miners and industry service organisations working in Africa who, despite COVID-19, have demonstrated exceptional leadership in environmental, social and governance (ESG) practices.
A pool of seven company entrants have been shortlisted across the three Awards categories: Best Innovation in Corporate Social Development, Best Workforce and Industry Development Initiative, and the Minerals Council of Australia-sponsored Emerging ESG Leader Award.
“We are proud to have a platform that allows us to profile a snapshot of the achievements and initiatives being undertaken by our 2021 AAMEG Africa Awards nominees,” said AAMEG CEO, Bill Witham.
“Although COVID-19 policies – pertinent in particular to travel, quarantine and vaccines – have been disruptive for many, the nominations we received this year demonstrate the strength of the industry and a steadfast commitment to continue to operate with ethical mining practices.”
“I strongly encourage attendance not only to the AAMEG Africa Awards, but to the entire Africa Down Under (ADU) Conference in 2021,” said Mr Witham.
“Characterised by its offering of a hybrid in-person and online forum aimed at Australian-African business and government relations, ADU is a must-attend event for companies and persons with interests or operations on the African continent.”
