The Australian federal government has launched the new Australian Critical Minerals Prospectus, outlining investment pathways for mines and critical minerals processing projects.
Federal Resources Minister Madeleine King launched the new prospectus while taking part in Critical Minerals Ministerial meetings, led by the United States government.
The government said the prospectus is an important tool to attract global investor interest as Australia positions itself to lead on the production of critical minerals.
The prospectus showcases 79 investment-ready critical minerals projects around Australia. The tool highlights key project information including the companies involved, location, project status, and the critical mineral being mined or processed.
King said Australia has the responsibility to lead on the global production of critical minerals and rare earths.
“Australia has the deposits and the know-how to develop critical minerals projects reliably, sustainably and at scale,” King said.
“We have the expertise and world-leading labour and environmental standards.
“This government is determined to position Australia at the front of global efforts to grow secure supplies of critical minerals and rare earths for our friends and partners.”
Australia is committed to unlocking new critical minerals and rare earths, supported by a growing pipeline of investment through the United States–Australia Framework for Critical Minerals and Rare Earths, signed in October 2025.
The prospectus launch follows previous government initiatives to maximise the strategic value of Australia’s critical minerals.
The government allocated AU$1.2 billion to establish a Critical Minerals Strategic Reserve, which will be operational from the second half of 2026.
The government also launched the AU$4 billion Critical Minerals Facility and the Critical Minerals Production Tax Incentive.
Minister for Trade and Tourism Don Farrell said: “Australia’s abundant deposits of critical minerals, alongside the expertise to extract and process those minerals, presents an invaluable economic opportunity that the Albanese Labor government stands ready to seize.
“The Australian Critical Minerals Prospectus now showcases midstream processing opportunities to international investors, attracting the investment needed to build a future made in Australia and create more high paying, secure jobs for Australians.”
