The Department of Energy, Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DEMIRS) is currently inviting expressions of interest for a new member to join the Mining Rehabilitation Advisory Panel.
This opportunity is for a three-year term beginning in November 2024.
The panel plays a crucial role under the Mining Rehabilitation Fund Act 2012, focusing on identifying land suitable for declaration as abandoned mine sites, prioritising rehabilitation projects, and managing the Mining Rehabilitation Fund (MRF).
Prospective members should possess expertise in areas such as mining operations management, land rehabilitation, environmental issues, financial and legal matters, or natural resource planning and management.
Interested individuals are encouraged to review relevant documents, including the MRF fact sheet, MRF Regulations 2013, and the Mining Rehabilitation Fund Act 2012, to understand the panel’s roles and responsibilities.
