The Northern Territory Government has awarded $1.7 million in grants under the latest round of the Geophysics and Drilling Collaboration (GDC) program.
The co-funding will help support a diverse range of exploration drilling programs and geophysical surveys across the Territory.
The projects include five greenfields drilling programs, five brownfields drilling programs and eight geophysical surveys.
A wide range of commodities will be targeted by the projects including gold, copper, tungsten, nickel, natural gas and helium.
Notably, this was the first time since the Resourcing the Territory initiative’s launch that projects have been able to access co-funding to support brownfields drilling programs. The expansion of the GDC program supports the recommendations of the Territory Economic Reconstruction’s final report.
The successful applicants are Inca Minerals Ltd, Knox Resources Ltd, Central Petroleum Ltd, Barkly Operations Pty Ltd, Strategic Energy Resources Ltd, King River Resources Ltd, IGO Ltd, Newcrest Mining Ltd, iCopper Pty Ltd, Core Lithium Ltd, Prodigy Gold NL, Redbank Operations PL, Bacchus Resources Pty Ltd, Molyhil Mining Pty Ltd and Vista Gold Australia Pty Ltd.
Minister for Mining and Industry, Nicole Manison, said creating jobs for Territorians is the NT Government’s number one priority.
“There are currently 20 mining projects working towards a Final Investment Decision (FID) in the Territory with a combined value of $6.2 billion and potential to create 5500 construction jobs and 3200 ongoing jobs,” she said.
“We have committed a further $9.5 million per year ongoing from 2022 to expand and turbo boost the Resourcing the Territory initiative.”
“The information gained from this grants program will be vital in attracting more investment and more jobs in mineral exploration across the region.”
