The Australian Resources and Energy Employer Association (AREEA) has announced the appointment of Julie Fallon as its new president.
Fallon, who currently serves as Executive Vice President Technical and Energy Development at Woodside Energy, brings over three decades of experience in the oil and gas industry to her new role.
Fallon, previously AREEA Vice President, succeeds Tom Quinn, who has served as president for the past four years.
Quinn will remain on the Board as Vice President, alongside Joanne Taylor, managing director of Compass Group Australia.
In her statement, Fallon acknowledged Quinn’s leadership during a challenging period for the resources and energy industry.
She noted: “Volatile market conditions, regulatory changes and rising costs of doing business have required strong leadership and a strategic response on AREEA’s part.”
With more than 30 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, Fallon joined Woodside’s Executive Leadership Team in 2022.
In her current role, she oversees various critical areas including project development, reserves and subsurface, wells and seismic, engineering and technology, digital, IT and cybersecurity, and health, safety and environment.
AREEA Chief Executive Steve Knott AM praised Fallon’s appointment, highlighting her diverse experience in the industry.
“Starting out as an engineer with Shell Australia, Julie worked in a range of production and engineering roles that included several years living in Karratha,” Knott said.
As of August 29, 2024, the AREEA Board comprises:
- Julie Fallon (President), Executive Vice President Technical and Energy Development, Woodside Energy Limited
