Liberty Industrial takes part in Industry Gender Diversity Initiative
Liberty Industrial has teamed up with a leading industry association to take part in a gender diversity initiative.
The initiative, organised by the Civil Contractors Federation NSW (CCF NSW), is aimed at communicating that women are welcome, supported and respected in the civil industry and geared toward attracting, retraining and promoting more female professionals.
Liberty Industrial was joined by other civil industry employers, the New South Wales Minister for Women, the Hon. Tanya Davies MP, and CCF NSW CEO David Castledine in signing commitment statements showing employer support for women in the civil contracting industry.
The commitment made by participants includes the implementation of employment processes that proactively seek to encourage female recruitment and retention, and an active participation in other initiatives that promote gender diversity to support and empower women in the workplace and industry.
In addition to the Employers for Women in Civil initiative, Liberty Industrial is also participating in other elements of CCF NSW’s broader Women in Civil pilot program which includes a mentoring program, virtual communities, a school visit program and recognition of female role models.
Liberty Industrial Director Clinton Dick said that Liberty Industrial supports gender equity and is pleased to be involved in the program. “The business case for achieving gender equity in the workplace is well documented. We are proud of the contribution our female employees make to the company, the industry, and to the workforce at large.”
“We know that company culture is important. We are committed to providing an equitable environment where women feel valued and empowered to participate and reach their potential.”
Mr Castledine said by encouraging and supporting women in their own workplace Liberty Industrial is sending the right message to any female thinking about a career in the civil industry.
“I am very proud of the fact that employers like Liberty Industrial who choose to be Members of CCF NSW recognise the importance of contributing to bettering the industry … it sets them apart,” he said.
“Our industry is facing labour and skills shortages and needs to improve its gender diversity to attract more workers. Liberty Industrial is playing its part in achieving that.”
