Applications are now open for Round 14 of the Northern Territory Government’s exploration drilling and geophysics grants.
The program, which forms a part of the $26 million Resourcing the Territory initiative, is the biggest investment by any Territory Government into programs to attract and support resources exploration in the Territory.
Round 14 sees the funding criteria expanded to include drilling in brownfields areas (close to known mineral deposits), as recommended by the Territory Economic Reconstruction Commission.
The program provides co-funding assistance of 50 per cent of the program cost, up to $125,000.
Round 13 awarded up to $1 million in funding to five exploration drilling projects and seven geophysics projects from 10 companies.
The Geophysics and Drilling Collaboration project funding is for programs to be undertaken during 2021, and applications will close on 3 May 2021.
Minister for Mining and Industry, Nicole Manison, said the minerals industry directly supports 4,400 ongoing Territory jobs and is one of the highest contributors to the NT’s economy, with mineral production worth $4.40 billion in the Territory over the last financial year.
“The information gained from this grants program will be vital in attracting more investment and more jobs in mineral exploration across the region,” she commented.
