Cool Mine Pty Ltd (Cool Mine) has established its brand as an innovative mining support company through the development, manufacture and sales of unique innovative products, that solve everyday problems in mining.
Cool Mine is the developer and manufacturer of its Patented Products: The Cool Tube®, Hot Spots® and Air2Volts™.
With a desire to produce only high quality, user-friendly products, Cool Mine understands the need for simple effective solutions, that do not require valuable time and resources to implement, whilst giving measurable value to its customers, with matters health and safety, compliance to legislation and operational availability.
The Cool Tube® MKII offers a high-quality cost-effective solution to assist in beating heat stress and equipment overheating.
The Cool Tube® MKII, with design operational testing traceable back to the National Standards by the NATA certified laboratory, SIMTARS.
Mine Spec, compressed air driven portable ‘air conditioners’, delivering super cooled air to the workspace to combat the environmental condition of heat stress, and/or assist in controlling the operational temperatures of equipment and infrastructure both internal and external.
The Cool Tube® MKII, developed and manufactured for the intended use of:
- Hot, humid underground mining activities that are low ventilation.
- Confined space locations such as vessels, dragline tubs, hoppers and tank compartments.
- Concealed areas, tunnels and shafts.
- Positive pressure air-conditioned refuge chambers, operator stations, COBs and crib areas.
- Fixed equipment and infrastructure cooling – IE: Transformers, electric motors and radiators.
- Any hot or humid work area with sufficient compressed air available.
With summer fast approaching, Cool Mine have had their focus on engineering new accessories for The Cool Tube® to better assist in the overall application and installation of The Cool Tube® in fixed locations, such as Longwall Supports, Continuous Miners, Drill Rigs and Jumbo’s to name a few.
Director of Cool Mine Pty Ltd, Mark Gleadhill, said that this year they have visited Underground Coal and Hardrock operations throughout Australia, India and Poland that are using The Cool Tube®, to understand how they can make the installation and use of the product even simpler and more effective.
“Additionally, our exclusive distributors in the Australian Coal Industry, Quarry Mining and Construction Equipment Pty Ltd, have been fully engaged with all their clients providing valuable feedback for the continual improvement we strive to deliver,” he detailed.
With the Magnetic Machine Mount kits (pictured above) becoming favoured for mounting in any fixed locations on equipment/machines, Cool Mine Pty Ltd have recognised the need to not only supply the magnetic mounts and clamps to ensure the safe and presentable installation of the hosing used in the system, but also the supply of mine compliant, FRAS, thermally insulated hoses, to deliver the cold air efficiently from The Cool Tube®, to the final location via the Remote Magnetic Silencer Mount.
“Whilst the use of the standard 2” FRAS flexible rubber hoses found in most mines is relatively effective for ducting the cold air over short distances, in the equipment/machine mount applications, the thermal losses from the hose material see up to 10°C of cold air temperature loss/waste, across a distance of 5m of hosing.”
Mr Gleadhill commented that Cool Mine have developed a flexible, annular, stainless steel thermally insulated hose, supplied in 1M lengths, with opposing male and female BSPP fittings on either end.
“These not only ensure the increased efficiency of ducting the cold air delivery across short distances up to 6M but will also satisfy the Fire Resistant Antistatic (FRAS) requirement of hoses used in Underground Coal Mines.”
As well as new additional accessories such as output air diffusers for close quarter operations, the recent internal cooling advancements of The Cool Tube® for greater output efficiencies, is primed to be released as standard in all models in Q4 2019.
“The Cool Tube® experience in Underground Mining poorly ventilated, hot and humid locations continues to improve every year with the help and feedback from our customers and distributors,” he added.
