Alkane Resources has uncovered a new high-grade gold and antimony pod within the historical Cuffley Lode alongside promising deep intercepts in the underlying Sub-KC domain at its Costerfield operations in Victoria.
The discoveries stem from recent drilling campaigns targeting unmined and sparsely tested zones near existing underground infrastructure.
At Cuffley, a 23-hole diamond drilling program totalling 3,255 metres aimed at an unmined area between the historical north and south high-grade panels identified a new high-grade pod in a zone previously assumed to be low-grade due to crosscutting faulting.
Standout assay highlights from the Cuffley infill program include a 580.9 grams per tonne (g/t) gold and 24 per cent antimony over 0.61 metres, including 0.25 metres at 1,360 g/t gold and 19.7 per cent antimony in hole AD270.
Additional highlights show 168.9 g/t gold and 33.5 per cent antimony over 0.9 metres in hole AD265 and 124 g/t gold and 48.6 per cent antimony over 0.23 metres in hole AD275.
Because the newly identified Cuffley pod sits directly adjacent to historical workings, Alkane confirms it is readily accessible and is already being incorporated into the active Costerfield mine schedule.
Concurrently, Alkane completed 17 target-testing holes into the deeper Sub-KC system beneath the Augusta deposit. Infill drilling returned notable high-grade gold hits, including 192 g/t gold over 0.17 metres and 73.2 g/t gold with 18.8 per cent antimony over 0.19 metres in hole CSK043, as well as 28.2 g/t gold over 0.99 metres in CSK044.
Alkane CEO Nic Earner said: “This discovery of unmined high-grade material directly adjacent one of Costerfield’s top-shelf historical orebodies showcases the importance of Alkane’s directive of revisiting and challenging old models and preconceptions surrounding mineralisation to extract value.
“We will continue seeking this new mineralisation alongside generating new targets within our leases.”
Alkane plans to pursue further potential growth in the Sub-KC domain through additional surface drilling and underground development.
