Altair Minerals Ltd. has revealed a fully funded, upscaled 75,000-metre drilling campaign at its Greater Oko gold project in Guyana.
Marking one of the largest inaugural gold exploration campaigns in the country, the 18-month program will target both greenfield and brownfield prospects across the company’s extensive landholding.
The program is backed by a robust pro-forma cash position of approximately AU$38 million, supported by a recent investment from West African producer Endeavour Mining.
Altair plans to deploy these funds into the ground, dividing the campaign into 40,000 metres of diamond drilling and 35,000 metres of reverse circulation (RC) drilling.
The primary focus will be South Oko (SOKO), which has been allocated 20,000 metres of diamond and 25,000 metres of RC drilling to test the southern extension of the Oko Shear.
North Peters (NP) will receive 10,000 metres of diamond and 5,000 metres of RC drilling to validate historic mineralisation and establish scalability.
A further 15,000 metres of combined drilling is earmarked for regional prospects, including Kmung, Mara-Mara, and East Puruni.
Altair CEO Faheem Ahmed said the expanded program followed a disciplined planning phase during the regional wet season, allowing the technical team to refine target ranking and geological interpretations.
“This disciplined approach has positioned Altair to commence a larger, better targeted and more efficiently coordinated exploration campaign than originally contemplated,” Ahmed said.
“Our updated exploration plan was designed with the objective of uncovering multiple world-class discoveries across the unparalleled Greater Oko land package, which is at the forefront of our long-term strategy.”
To support the massive campaign, Altair has secured two RC rigs to complement its active diamond rig.
The company is also expanding accommodation at its primary camps, operating three additional regional bases, and commencing a comprehensive 400-square-kilometre LiDAR survey in early August.
First-pass diamond drilling is set to commence imminently at North Peters, with RC drilling at South Oko scheduled to kick off in August.
