Asra Minerals Limited (ASX: ASR) has announced a strategic, low-risk, staged earn-in transaction to acquire 70 per cent of the premium Kookynie East Gold Project, located 50km south of Leonora in the mineral-rich Eastern Goldfields of Western Australia.
This acquisition, subject to shareholder approval, will significantly bolster Asra’s gold resource base, adding a combined JORC 2012 Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE) of 200,000 ounces at 1.8 g/t Au, with exceptional growth potential.
As part of this transaction, Asra is set to welcome two esteemed mining professionals as strategic advisors: Ian Murray and Ziggy Lubieniecki, founders and former board members of Gold Road Resources.
Their extensive experience and successful track record in gold exploration and mining are expected to be invaluable to Asra’s future projects.
The Kookynie East Gold Project is ideally located in a highly prospective area that shares a boundary with established gold producer Genesis Minerals, home to the ~2Moz Ulysses Gold Hub.
This strategic acquisition increases Asra’s total gold exploration portfolio in the Leonora district to 936km², enhancing the company’s exploration footprint.
The project area includes multiple historic gold mines such as Orion-Sapphire, Diamantina, and Cosmopolitan, which have seen limited systematic exploration and deep drilling.
Significant gold intercepts have been identified at shallow depths, suggesting substantial potential for further discoveries along strike and at depth. Notable intercepts include:
- 6m @ 166g/t Au from 135m, including 4m @ 248.8g/t Au (RC637)
- 5m @ 21.5g/t Au from 19m (RC047)
- 7m @ 20.5g/t Au from 10m (RC079)
- 4m @ 46.4g/t Au from 3m (RC137)
- 3m @ 38.2g/t Au from 14m (RC139)
To support the acquisition and further exploration, Asra has secured binding commitments to raise approximately $2.2 million through a Placement.
This funding round, strongly backed by new and existing high-net-worth investors, dedicated resource funds, and the Gold Road Resources founding group, ensures that Asra is well-positioned to undertake extensive exploration programs across its consolidated Leonora Gold portfolio.
Rob Longley, Managing Director of Asra said: “This is a synergistic acquisition that greatly enhances our existing gold exploration portfolio. With the inclusion of renowned professionals Ian Murray and Ziggy Lubieniecki, we are poised to fast-track our exploration strategy with high-priority drill-ready targets at Orion-Sapphire.”
The acquisition not only provides a significant increase in resources but also offers a unique opportunity to explore and develop additional high-grade targets.
With over 75km of cumulative strike length covered by the consolidated tenements, Asra is well-positioned to chase gold mineralisation along strike and at depth, potentially uncovering multi-million-ounce extensions and new discoveries in this highly prospective region.
Asra also intends to issue a one (1) for ten (10) Loyalty Option to all eligible shareholders, with a record date set around July 2024.
This move aims to reward existing shareholders and strengthen investor confidence in Asra’s long-term strategic plans.
In summary, Asra Minerals’ strategic acquisition of the Kookynie East Gold Project, combined with the strengthened advisory team and robust financial backing, sets the stage for significant exploration and growth in one of Australia’s most promising gold districts.
