Eagle Mountain Mining Limited (ASX: EM2) has announced the discovery of substantial copper porphyry-style targets at its wholly-owned Silver Mountain Project in Arizona, USA.
This breakthrough, achieved through a recent 3D seismic survey, marks a significant milestone in the project’s exploration potential.
The survey, conducted using Fleet Space’s ExoSphere solution, has identified large high-priority porphyry-style targets beneath the tertiary cover.
These targets boast an impressive modelled strike length of approximately two kilometres, with depths to the top of targets starting from about 300 metres.
Tim Mason, CEO of Eagle Mountain Mining, expressed enthusiasm about the findings: “The recent 3D seismic survey at our Silver Mountain Project has been a resounding success, significantly enhancing our geological understanding and propelling the project to a top priority for exploration activities.”
The Silver Mountain Project, situated northwest of Phoenix on the Laramide Arc, is strategically positioned among world-class porphyry copper mines such as Bagdad, Miami, and Resolution.
Its location on a prospective metallogenic belt, which hosts high-grade historical mines like United Verde and Iron King, further enhances its potential.
Mason highlighted the significance of these discoveries, stating: “These new findings highlight an unexplored, western target zone, well beyond the past exploration efforts that were focussed on the eastern volcanogenic massive sulphide horizon.”
The company plans to refine its exploration strategy through several key steps:
- Reprocessing existing magnetic and gravity data to enhance target definition
- Analysing pending assays from prospective samples
- Conducting age dating and petrographic analysis
- Continuing detailed geological mapping and sampling
In a parallel development, Eagle Mountain Mining has initiated a strategic review of its Oracle Ridge Project, led by Argonaut PCF.
This move comes in response to recent market interest and aims to explore options for maximising shareholder value.
As Eagle Mountain Mining advances its exploration efforts at Silver Mountain and reassesses its strategy for Oracle Ridge, the company appears well-positioned to capitalise on the growing demand for copper in the green energy market.
