Fenix Resources Ltd. has secured key regulatory and environmental approvals to develop its new Beebyn-W10 mine in Western Australia, unlocking a key part of its strategy to boost production to six million tonnes per annum (Mtpa) by fiscal 2028.
The Department of Energy, Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DEMIRS) approved the company’s Mining Development and Closure Proposal alongside the Native Vegetation Clearing Permit for Beebyn-W10 Stage 1.
Meanwhile, the Department of Water and Environmental Protection (DWER) granted a Prescribed Premises Works Licence to support the prospective production capacity at the newly established Beebyn Hub.
Located directly adjacent to the existing Beebyn-W11 deposit within the Weld Range Iron Ore Project, the Beebyn-W10 development will form the operational core of Fenix’s regional growth.
Mining activities are scheduled to begin during the current quarter, with first ore on ship expected in the December 2026 quarter.
Fenix Executive Chairman John Welborn stated that consolidating operations into the Beebyn Hub would deliver major scale efficiencies as the company phases out standalone remote mines.
“Moving from the operation of three separate remote iron ore mining operations to one regional mining hub will simplify our supply chain, improve product strategies, and centralise our workforce,” Welborn said.
He added that establishing the Beebyn Hub provides the foundational platform to achieve the company’s three-year production plan while anchoring its longer-term expansion target of 10Mtpa by 2031.
Fenix has executed a Deed of Covenant and secured a letter of consent from the Traditional Owners, the Wajarri Yamaji People, under the existing Cultural Heritage Agreement to proceed with mining.
Discussions are progressing toward a formal deposit-specific Deed of Covenant.
The company is currently advancing a definitive feasibility study for the broader Weld Range project, targeted for completion by the end of calendar year 2026.
Beyond the three-year plan, Fenix intends to establish a second processing hub at Madoonga to mine and process Weld Range ore further to the south-west.
