Larvotto Resources has confirmed broad antimony-gold mineralisation at its Freehold prospect, located within the company’s Hillgrove Antimony-Gold project in New South Wales.
The company’s drilling program found 14 metres at 4.25 grams per tonne (g/t) gold equivalent (AuEq) from 89 metres at FRE016.
Larvotto Managing Director, Ron Heeks, said: “Larvotto’s first drilling program at the Freehold prospect has confirmed the significant upside potential of this historic mine area.
“The results demonstrate consistent gold and antimony grades within and beyond the known lodes, and the presence of high-grade tungsten associated with the same structures, reinforce the multi-commodity potential of the Hillgrove system.”
Mining in Freehold originally commenced in the late 1800s via surface pits, before moving underground. New England Antimony Mine operated the Freehold mine from 1974 to 2002 and was developed into a 330-metre-deep vertical shaft mine with eight levels.
Tungsten results, associated with antimony-gold structures, were found at 0.6m at 2.23 per cent tungsten oxide (WO₃) and 0.5m at 3.43 per cent WO₃ were also identified.
Heeks said the tungsten results represent an opportunity to extract additional value for the project.
“Larvotto looks forward to continual updates on our tungsten results as we move forward. These results continue to strengthen our understanding of the area and with prices for antimony, gold and tungsten hitting record highs in 2025, we believe there is a significant opportunity to create a new underground mining centre at Freehold, adjacent to the current processing plant. Drilling in the area continues,” Heeks said.
Larvotto will focus on resource growth at Hillgrove, with four diamond drill rigs drilling across the Metz Mining Centre, and the Swamp Creek and Freehold prospects as part of the company’s near-mine and regional exploration strategy.
At Metz, drilling is currently focused on defining the convergence of the Blacklode and Syndicate structures and testing extensions beneath historical workings.
At Freehold, drilling continues to target the historic workings and potential extensions to mineralised structures. Future drilling will test the nearby Smiths and Freehold East prospects.
