Right Resources Ltd. has produced a high-grade tungsten sink product from its Blue tungsten prospect in New South Wales.
Laboratory testwork on the Blue metallurgical composite, conducted by Nagrom Laboratories on a 32-kilogram surface composite sample from the project near Tumbarumba, produced the high-grade tungsten sink product at coarse crush sizes.
The metallurgical evaluation utilised heavy liquid separation (HLS) to assess gravity-based beneficiation pathways.
At a crush size of under one millimetre, the HLS product achieved a grade of 66.5 per cent tungsten trioxide with an indicative tungsten recovery of 81.6 per cent.
Across three crushed sizes, products consistently graded between 66.5 per cent and 66.9 per cent tungsten trioxide.
Recovery increased as crush size was reduced, confirming that dense tungsten-bearing particles separate effectively from lighter waste rock at relatively coarse sizes.
Managing Director Graham Howard said the initial findings support evaluating a conventional gravity-first processing flowsheet for the prospect.
“The heavy liquid separation testwork indicates that a significant proportion of the tungsten in the tested composite reports to a high-grade sink product at relatively coarse crush sizes,” Howard said.
“This supports evaluation of a gravity-first flowsheet using conventional gravity equipment.”
Semi-quantitative X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis confirmed the mineralogy is heavily quartz-dominant, comprising approximately 95 per cent quartz with scheelite identified as the principal tungsten-bearing mineral at around 1 per cent abundance.
Importantly, no quantifiable carbonate or sulphide minerals were detected in the analysed sample, a characteristic that could reduce operational complexity during future flotation processes.
Right Resources cautioned that the initial testwork was conducted on a single surface sample and should not be regarded as representative of grade or metallurgical variability across the wider prospect.
Furthermore, the HLS products have not yet been qualified as saleable commercial concentrates.
Additional evaluation, including flotation sighter tests, magnetic characterisation, and larger-scale gravity validation, remains underway at Nagrom Laboratories.
A final comprehensive metallurgical report is anticipated in the second half of 2026, coinciding with preparations for a planned 3,000-metre drilling program scheduled for the third and fourth quarters.
