Stellar Resources has expanded its tin exploration in Tasmania with the acquisition of the Granite Tor tin project.
Stellar completed the acquisition of the tenement covering an area of 122 square kilometres, further expanding its landholding in Tasmania’s tin province.
Granite Tor is located to the east of the Mt Read volcanic complex and covers the basement stratigraphy and Devonian granites that host the third-party Renison tin mine, the largest tin producer in Australia, as well as the company’s Heemskirk project.
With the addition of Granite Tor, Stella Resources now controls more than 156 square kilometres of ground in Tasmania’s tin province, forming a pipeline of potential development-stage projects to feed into future production at its Heemskirk project.
Stellar Resources plans to undertake soil and stream sampling programs to confirm the historic exploration as well as infill anomalous areas to help define potential exploration targets.
The company is focused on developing its Heemskirk project and aims to produce between 3,000 and 3,500 tonnes per annum (tpa), or about 1 per cent of global supply.
Stellar Resources has defined a high-grade resource at Heemskirk totalling 7.48 million tonnes at 1.04 per cent tin, containing 77.87 kilo tonnes of tin, making the project the highest-grade undeveloped tin resource in Australia and third globally.
