Terrain Minerals has announced a significant expansion of its induced polarisation survey program at its wholly owned Smokebush Gold and Silver Project, located 350 kilometres north of Perth, Western Australia.
The company has extended the program by four new lines, adding an additional four kilometres of dipole-dipole coverage across three target areas that carry substantive historic gold results: Paradise City, T17, and Hurley.
The decision to extend the program reflects Terrain’s confidence in the dipole-dipole configuration as the most effective tool for subsurface imaging at Smokebush.
This is the same technique that identified the 600-metre-long Lightning chargeability anomaly in 2023, a discovery that has since been drilled to more than 16,000 metres and is now advancing toward a maiden Mineral Resource Estimate, expected in July 2026.
A previous gradient array IP survey completed over this area proved a less effective configuration for the project.
In contrast, the dipole-dipole method is expected to deliver enhanced subsurface resolution and add a valuable third dimension to the existing dataset across all three target areas, giving the company a more complete picture ahead of planned drilling in the second half of 2026.
The Paradise City prospect hosts some of the most compelling historic results on the project.
Historic reverse circulation drilling at the prospect has returned intercepts including 3 metres at 2.17 grams per tonne gold from 10 metres, 5 metres at 1.35 grams per tonne gold from 13 metres, 2 metres at 3.61 grams per tonne gold from 15 metres, and 3 metres at 1.94 grams per tonne gold from 19 metres.
Historic rock chip sampling across Paradise City has further reinforced the prospectivity of the area, with seven samples returning values above 10 grams per tonne gold and a peak result of 49.27 grams per tonne gold. Across 31 rock chip or grab samples, the average grade was 8.15 grams per tonne gold.
More recently, Terrain’s own rock chip sampling at Paradise City old workings confirmed the presence of mineralisation, with four new samples averaging 5.18 grams per tonne gold.
Rock chip samples collected from vein extensions located 150 metres from the workings returned anomalous gold values, further pointing to the potential for the system to extend beyond the known footprint.
The Hurley and T17 prospects also carry meaningful historic drilling results. Key intercepts include 10 metres at 1.4 grams per tonne gold from 15 metres from a RAB hole, and 2 metres at 2.5 grams per tonne gold from 51 metres from an RC hole.
These results, while historic, are sufficient to warrant the more rigorous subsurface interrogation that the dipole-dipole IP program will now provide.
Executive Director Justin Virgin noted that Paradise City, Hurley and T17 are not speculative targets.
Each carries a documented history of gold results that clearly warrant further investigation.
By applying the same IP methodology that defined the Lightning anomaly, Terrain aims to bring the same analytical rigour to this next generation of targets that has proven successful elsewhere on the project.
The expanded survey program underscores Terrain Minerals’ disciplined and systematic approach to exploring the Smokebush project, leveraging proven techniques and existing geological knowledge to efficiently identify the most promising drill targets for the period ahead.
