True North Copper has delivered one of Australia’s best copper intercepts to date at its at its Mt Oxide project in Northwest Queensland.
The company said its latest drilling results delivered the best intercept to date on the 1.3-kilometre Aquila trend. The results confirmed a total strike length of more than 700 metres with mineralisation remaining open in all directions, establishing Aquila as a substantial mineral system.
Drilling has confirmed several zones of strong copper mineralisation indicating high-grade shoot zones, with additional high-grade shoots remaining to be discovered.
True North CEO Andrew Mooney said: “Discoveries of this grade and scale in the Mt Isa region are rare, and it’s the kind of find an exploration geologist can spend a career looking for.
“The results at Aquila include one of the strongest copper intercepts reported this year from a new discovery in Australia – 59 metres at 1.77 per cent copper, including 7 metres at almost 8 per cent.
“Aquila appears to have the grade, scale and continuity that we’ve long believed was repeated along the trend which already hosts the existing high-grade Vero resource.”
The company completed phase two drilling with a total of 26 holes for 7,074 metres, with further assay results pending and will be released by the end of 2025.
True North is now planning for extensional drill program and follow-up in 2026. Drilling will target extensions below the high-grade shoots indicated by the discovery drillholes and the new high-grade zone identified in MOX255. Drilling is expected to recommence in the second quarter of 2026.
“We now have both a significant strike length delineated and new evidence of a high-grade shoot – along with clear additional new targets for an expanded 2026 drilling program post the summer wet season,” Mooney said.
