Valiant Gold Ltd. made significant progress at its Comet gold mine in Western Australia’s Murchison region, keeping the project on track to achieve first production in the second half of fiscal 2027.
Dewatering operations have reached the 1270 Level, located 170 metres below surface, which will provide access to the mine’s initial production zones.
Water pumped from the workings is currently being discharged into the nearby Eclipse Pit, with permanent dewatering infrastructure set to be commissioned alongside permanent site power.
Key surface and underground infrastructure are now established, including site offices, a workshop, a medical centre, and primary ventilation fans. Work on the site power station is underway and scheduled for completion by the end of October, while a 30-person accommodation camp is slated for delivery in the second quarter of 2027.
The Comet gold mine hosts an existing Mineral Resource Estimate of 3.77 million tonnes at 2.51 grams per tonne of gold for 304,000 ounces. Extracted ore will be processed under an agreement with Westgold Resources, utilising access to the nearby Tuckabianna and Bluebird mills.
Valiant is currently finalising the Comet Restart Study and evaluating tenders for underground mining services, with both outcomes expected before the end of the second quarter.
Additionally, the company is in the final stages of appointing a diamond drilling contractor for upcoming grade control and resource definition programs.
Valiant Management highlighted the project’s momentum as dewatering and site works progress safely, on schedule, and within budget.
Management noted that immediate priorities include commissioning permanent site power, completing the restart study, and finalising mining and drilling contracts.
With the project fully funded to first production, Valiant aims to leverage underground drilling to increase resource confidence and explore mine life extensions beyond its total 1.2-million-ounce regional resource base.
