WA1 Resources has reported exceptional high-grade assay results from its flagship Luni niobium project, reinforcing the potential of a key early-stage mining focus area.
Ongoing infill diamond drilling across Luni’s eastern zone continues to return remarkable grades, headlined by an intersection of 21.4 metres at 7.4 per cent niobium pentoxide from a depth of 91.3 metres. Additional standout intercepts include 10.2 metres at 6.1 per cent niobium pentoxide and 38 metres at 3.8 per cent niobium pentoxide.
The campaign has completed over 90,000 metres of drilling to date, primarily targeting a tight 50-metre staggered grid pattern within the eastern Indicated Mineral Resource area. The high-grade oxide mineralisation remains sub-horizontal within the shallow, weathered carbonatite profile, paving the way for potential primary mineralisation targets at deeper, unweathered depths in future programs.
The concentrated drilling aims to upgrade geological confidence toward an initial measured resource. This update will underpin a revised mineral resource estimate scheduled for release later this year and feed into the ongoing pre-feasibility study (PFS), which remains firmly on track for completion in the fourth quarter of 2026.
WA1 Managing Director Paul Savich said field data collection for the PFS was now complete, shifting focus toward technical workstreams that will lay the foundation for definitive-level studies.
“This year, resource definition drilling has concentrated on the eastern focus area, with the primary objective of working towards an initial Measured Resource,” Savich said.
“This work is targeted to provide the highest level of geological confidence in the mineralisation expected to underpin the early years of any potential mining operation.”
In tandem with drilling, WA1 has commissioned a new site airstrip, establishing regular direct flights to Luni to streamline workforce logistics.
Construction of the airstrip included structured work experience programs for local Traditional Owners, fostering broader community collaboration as the project advances toward development.
Site activities continue at Luni with drilling collecting samples for resource definition, metallurgical testwork and development workstreams.
Various other activities are ongoing across multiple disciplines, with a key focus on permitting, approvals and development studies.
