Wishbone Gold Plc has registered a new 118-square-kilometre tenement application in Western Australia’s Paterson Province, expanding its major regional footprint near the world-class Havieron gold-copper deposit.
The new licence area, designated as application E 45/7348 or ‘Havieron South-East’, is located just 10 kilometres south-east of Greatland Resources’ Havieron mine.
The acquisition increases Wishbone’s total landholding in the Telfer district to 628 square kilometres, positioning the company as one of the largest groundholders surrounding the Telfer and Havieron gold-copper hubs.
The new ground encompasses an 11-kilometre strike length of the Havieron Thrust Fault. The major regional structure acts as a critical deep crustal conduit for mineralising fluids that formed the high-grade gold-copper breccia systems at Havieron, located 45 kilometres east of the historic Telfer mine.
The application will move toward formal grant and become active in early 2027 once incorporated into Wishbone’s existing Native Title Agreement.
Wishbone Gold Western Australia Director Ed Mead said securing the ground directly along strike from key regional discoveries represents a transformative prospect for the miner.
“To have registered this substantial tenement so close to the Havieron gold-copper mine is a major opportunity for Wishbone,” Mead said.
“The 11 km strike of the magnetic feature associated with the Havieron Thrust Fault, that runs into Greatland’s Havieron and Scallywag deposits, provides excellent targets for drilling.”
Mead added that recent drilling successes by nearby explorers, including Hamelin Gold’s high-grade intersections at the Day Dawn project north-west of Telfer, underscore the untapped mineral potential remaining across the region.
Once the licence is fully granted, Wishbone plans to launch targeted geophysical and drilling campaigns focusing on structural splays, extensions, and parallel faults beneath the regional sedimentary cover to search for additional hidden gold-copper deposits.
