Critical Minerals Group Ltd. has appointed current COO Pat Kelly as interim CEO, effective September 1, following the resignation of Scott Winter from the role.
Winter steps down after leading the Queensland-focused resources company for approximately three years to take up a new role as CEO of equipment solutions provider BTP, following its AU$100 million corporate carve-out from mining services firm Perenti.
He will work alongside the board through a transitional period to facilitate an orderly handover before assumption of his new position.
During Winter’s tenure, CMG established itself as a key player in Queensland’s emerging critical minerals sector, significantly advancing its Lindfield vanadium project and proposed downstream vanadium electrolyte facility near Julia Creek.
CMG Chairman Alan Broome expressed gratitude for Winter’s strategic contribution to the company’s trajectory.
“On behalf of the board, I want to thank Scott for his dedication and leadership over the past three years. Scott has taken CMG to new levels and played an important role in advancing Queensland’s vanadium industry more broadly,” Broome said.
“He leaves the business in a strong position, with a clear strategy and a clear line of sight to FID on the Lindfield Project and electrolyte plant.”
The board confirmed that CMG’s direction and operational timelines remain unchanged following the leadership transition. Key technical personnel remain in place, with work programs continuing as planned toward securing a final investment decision (FID) for the Lindfield project and processing plant.
Kelly steps into the interim executive role while the board conducts a formal search process to select a permanent CEO to guide the company through its next development phase.
“I have worked alongside this team on the Lindfield project since 2024, and I am confident in the program in front of us,” Kelly said.
“My focus is on delivering the work required to bring Lindfield and the electrolyte plant to FID.”
