Prairie Lithium Ltd. will restructure its board to steer the company from its project development phase toward commercial lithium production in Saskatchewan.
The management shake-up, which takes effect immediately, sees Managing Director Paul Lloyd transition into the role of Executive Chairman.
Lloyd, a chartered accountant with more than three decades of corporate advisory experience, has guided the company since 2018.
In his new executive seat, he will take charge of high-level corporate strategy, stock exchange compliance, and securing the large-scale capital required for upcoming institutional project financing.
Concurrently, Barnaby Egerton-Warburton will step down as Non-Executive Chairman to become a Non-Executive Director.
The company stated this shift allows the board to retain Egerton-Warburton’s investment banking expertise while establishing a traditional corporate governance framework to provide independent risk oversight during physical construction.
Under the new structure, the executive chairman will work alongside the two executive directors to manage the following core pillars of the business.
The chairman will oversee the company’s relationship with the ASX, manage investor relations and lead the procurement of large-scale project financing.
The rest of the leadership team will maintain delineated responsibilities. Executive Director Zach Maurer will continue driving technical operations, specifically overseeing the commissioning of commercial-scale Direct Lithium Extraction (DLE) modules at the company’s flagship Canadian project.
Meanwhile, Executive Director Matthew Blumberg will manage commercial negotiations, including offtake agreements and global supply chain partnerships.
“As we drive forward with the physical construction of our lithium extraction facility and prepare for commercial lithium brine production, it is vital that our leadership structure reflects our operational maturity,” Lloyd said.
He noted the new layout allows the team to play to individual strengths ahead of the company’s targeted first production.
The company’s wholly owned Prairie lithium project is situated within the infrastructure-heavy and mining-friendly jurisdiction of Saskatchewan, Canada.
Operating with direct access to power, highways, and rail lines, the project utilises sustainable DLE technology designed to minimise freshwater usage and waste compared to traditional extraction methods.
