Mining technology supplier Metso has signed two multi-year life cycle services (LCS) agreements worth a combined €60 million (AU$97 million) to support base metal producers in the Asia-Pacific and South American regions.
The contracts focus heavily on optimising and maintaining an extensive installed base of Metso’s proprietary Larox PF filters.
The first is a five-year agreement signed with a major South American copper producer, while the second is a four-year contract with a prominent lead and zinc producer operating in the Asia-Pacific region.
The order will be recognised on a phased basis, with the initial components officially booked under Metso’s Minerals segment during the first quarter of 2026.
According to the company, one of the individual packages ranks as one of the largest filtration-specific LCS orders Metso has ever secured.
Both agreements are based around Metso’s specialised Larox PF Plate Pack Management Service (PPMS), a program within the Metso Plus sustainable offering.
The package merges structural spare parts supply, planned maintenance, plate pack repairs, equipment upgrades, and round-the-clock expert technical assistance across multiple processing sites.
Furthermore, the integration of advanced digital tracking tools will give operations real-time visibility over filter performance, significantly reducing costly, unplanned downtime.
“This long-term service model supports proactive maintenance, ensures predictable performance, and provides cost transparency, ultimately optimising cost per tonne in copper and base metals processing,” said Frank Araneda, Manager, LCS Solutions Sales at Metso.
The lifecycle approach directly targets mining sustainability goals. By reconditioning and reusing heavy filter components locally rather than manufacturing entirely new equipment from scratch, the process drastically cuts down material consumption and lowers embedded carbon emissions.
“These agreements highlight the strength of combining our installed base with deep product knowledge and comprehensive aftermarket capabilities,” said ****Miika Tirkkonen, Senior Vice President, Beneficiation, Dewatering and Hydrometallurgy at Metso.
“With our local service presence, digital solutions, and proven life cycle concepts, we focus on helping customers improve reliability, increase predictability, and deliver measurable long-term value in their operations.”
The new agreements reinforce Metso’s booming global aftermarket footprint, with the group currently managing more than 600 active long-term service contracts with mining operations worldwide.
