Aaron Maurer has been appointed as the new Latin Resources Chief Operating Officer (COO) effective immediately — the company hopes that this decision will place Latin Resources as a frontrunner in the mining industry, particularly in the lithium sector.
The company released a statement which reads: “Aaron Maurer, a seasoned professional with an illustrious career in the mining industry, brings to Latin a wealth of experience, particularly in lithium operations.”
His experience includes over five years at Mineral Resources Limited, where he worked as an Executive General Manager in Operations.
In this role, Aaron was involved in overseeing the Mt Marion Lithium mine and three Iron Ore operations, contributing to the development of a high-performance culture and leading substantial capital investment and production growth initiatives.
Before joining Latin Resources, Aaron served as the Head of Operations at Atlantic Lithium, where he played a role in transitioning the company from exploration to a near-term producer.
He led and handled the approvals and operational preparedness of Ghana’s first lithium mine, helping Atlantic Lithium establish itself as a regional pioneer.
Latin Resources Managing Director Chris Gale said: “His skillset of achieving production, financial, and safety targets by developing committed and capable teams of professionals will further enhance our development team greatly.
“His extensive experience and expertise in lithium operations will be instrumental as we continue to advance our flagship Salinas Lithium Project through development and ultimately production to position ourselves as key players in the global battery metals market.”
Maurer’s professional background also includes leadership positions at PVW Resources NL, Sydvaranger Gruve AS in Norway, Peabody Energy Australia, BHP Billiton, and Thiess.
Latin Resources stated: “His experience across various continents and commodities has equipped him with a deep understanding of operations management and strategic leadership, making him an invaluable asset to the Latin Resources team.”
