The Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM) has launched four new online courses focused on technical best practice for resources professionals, including a new Professional Certificate on environmental, social and governance (ESG) and social responsibility (SR).
Beginning on 2 August, the online course will be global in scope, comprise 40 hours of professional development, and examine ESG/SR through critical thinking and authentic resource sector experience.
Content will focus on evaluating ESG/SR risk, threats, and opportunities, and providing insights on developing workplace responses, execution, assurance and performance reporting.
The course is specifically designed with a broad audience in mind, including managers and leaders, consultants and professionals across all disciplines including corporate and investment-related roles.
AusIMM CEO, Stephen Durkin, said the new Professional Certificate will help improve the workforce’s understanding of what social responsibility means for them in their everyday jobs.
“With ESG and social responsibility criteria being monitored by mining industry stakeholders more closely than ever before, AusIMM is leading the way to upskill and educate our global community,” Mr Durkin said.
AusIMM’s three other new online courses include:
- Cost-estimation Short Course: starting 19 July and designed to provide participants with foundational tools and techniques to perform capital, operating and business cost estimations specific to the resources sector from scoping to feasibility studies.
- JORC Code Essentials: an on-demand course specifically created for company directors and executives to understand their obligations when reporting in accordance with industry codes and standards, stock exchange listing rules and regulations.
- Field to Cloud: beginning 9 June and created to educate participants on the role control systems play in the transformation of mining operations.
Mr Durkin said each of the courses is part of AusIMM’s commitment to ensuring those working in the sector have the tools and knowledge they need to “practice with the highest possible standards”.
Intakes for the four new courses are now open. More information and registration is available at ausimm.com/courses.
