EV Resources has established a maiden exploration target for its Los Lirios antimony project in Oaxaca, Mexico, uncovering district-scale potential at one of North America’s most strategically positioned projects at a time of acute global supply constraint.
The conceptual exploration target is defined at 1.8 to 5 million tonnes (Mt) grading for 70,000 to 166,000 tonnes of contained antimony metal across three discrete zones.
This includes the Lirios 1 and Lirios 2 carbonate replacement-style (CRD) zones, averaging approximately 1.8 per cent antimony, and the high-grade Cofradia zone, which boasts an average grade of 6.7 per cent antimony.
Recent Phase 1 diamond drilling confirmed shallow CRD continuity at Lirios 1, where hole DDH-L1-08-26 returned 5.25 metres at 1.36 per cent antimony from 8.1 metres, including a higher-grade intercept of 3.05 metres at 2.12 per cent antimony.
The same mineralised CRD horizon was confirmed six kilometres along strike at Lirios 2, where a maiden hole returned 2.35 metres at 2.52 per cent antimony from 11.25 metres. Further south, initial handheld pXRF channel sampling at the Cofradia zone returned 2.2 metres at 5.66 per cent antimony, with laboratory assays currently pending.
EV Resources CEO Mike Brown stated that the milestone establishes a credible scale for the project during a period of severe global supply constraints.
“Our planned Phase 2 program is designed to drill the likely high-grade intersections where those feeders meet the CRD host, with short, low-cost holes, and we are confident this gives us a highly capital-efficient pathway toward a maiden JORC Resource,” Brown said.
“With antimony established as a critical mineral and Western supply under genuine pressure, we believe Los Lirios is emerging at exactly the right time.”
The project emerges as a strategically scarce asset in North America, navigating a market defined by acute supply tightness following China’s 2024 export controls.
Los Lirios is one of very few advanced antimony projects in North America with demonstrated high-grade mineralisation at surface.
Backed by an active development program and a confirmed processing pathway yielding over 90 per cent recovery, EV Resources is aiming to deliver a maiden JORC Mineral Resource Estimate in the second half of the 2026 calendar year.
