Terrain Minerals Ltd. has confirmed high-grade tungsten intersections across multiple prospects at its Smokebush project, located 350 kilometres north of Perth in Western Australia.
A database review and over-range re-assaying of previously capped drill samples revealed the potential for a district-scale tungsten system occuring alongside the project’s established gold and silver deposits.
The review identified 20 intersections exceeding 1,000 parts per million (ppm) tungsten across 16 drill holes, as well as 80 intersections above a 200ppm cut-off across 32 holes.
Notable results include one metre at 0.75 per cent tungsten trioxide from 144 metres at the Lightning prospect, and two metres at 0.55 per cent tungsten trioxide from 137 metres at the same site.
Tungsten has been confirmed across six prospects spanning an area of roughly six kilometres by five kilometres. Because only one-third of the existing Smokebush sample database has been tested for the metal, the true extent of mineralisation remains materially under-measured.
Terrain is now designing up to 12 reverse circulation (RC) drill holes specifically targeting tungsten at the Cota, T16, Lightning, and Hurley prospects. Pending approvals, these holes will be integrated into an upcoming 86-hole, 10,905-metre drilling campaign scheduled to begin this month.
Terrain Executive Director Justin Virgin noted the timing of the discovery, with tungsten prices having surged significantly over the past year amid rising geopolitical demand for non-Chinese critical mineral supplies.
“Before drilling a single hole at Smokebush specifically for tungsten, we had already returned grades above 0.4 per cent tungsten trioxide in five separate holes,” Virgin said.
“Given these results, we are adding up to 12 holes to our upcoming drilling program, designed primarily to test for further tungsten mineralisation.”
Terrain also plans to audit its pulp store to re-assay historical drill samples for tungsten without requiring additional drilling, alongside a larger planned re-assay program for silver ahead of an updated mineral resource estimate in mid-2027.
