Tivan Ltd. has signed a memorandum of understanding with Aboriginal Investment NT to drive indigenous-led investment and commercial participation at its Molyhil tungsten project in the Northern Territory.
The two groups have established a framework to collaborate over the development, financing, and operational phases of the project, located 220 kilometres north-east of Alice Springs.
Aboriginal Investment NT is a Corporate Commonwealth Entity with more than AU$600 million in funds under management.
Over the next 12 months, the group will evaluate direct equity investment in Molyhil alongside the creation of localised procurement, training, and business contracting pathways for Aboriginal Territorians.
The parties will also consider other future opportunities for collaboration in the resources sector in the NT.
Tivan Executive Chairman Grant Wilson said the agreement marks a first-in-kind milestone for the Northern Territory resources sector.
“Since inception, we have strived to formulate new language and new pathways to redefine the resources sector in the Territory, based on principles of genuine inclusion and durable alignment with Aboriginal Australians,” Wilson said.
The alliance builds on Tivan’s established presence in Central Australia, where the company has signed multiple exploration deeds with the Central Land Council over the past two years to support local educational, vocational, and cultural initiatives.
Aboriginal Investment NT CEO Nigel Browne noted that critical minerals projects must deliver lasting structural benefits to the region’s traditional owners.
“This agreement reflects our commitment to ensuring Aboriginal Territorians have a meaningful stake in the opportunities emerging from the critical minerals sector,” Browne said.
“Through this engagement, we will explore how investment, employment, and enterprise development outcomes can be embedded from an early stage, creating pathways for long term economic participation and self determination.”
Tivan is currently accelerating a pre-feasibility study for the Molyhil Tungsten Project, which is scheduled for completion in the fourth quarter of 2026 before advancing toward a definitive feasibility study and a final investment decision.
