West Cobar Metals has completed its acquisition of the Mystique Gold Project, securing exploration licence E28/2513, which covers 35 square kilometres, approximately 225 kilometres south-south-east of Kalgoorlie in Western Australia’s Fraser Range Province.
The Mystique project, located within the Albany-Fraser Province, is considered highly prospective for orogenic gold deposits.
The area’s geology and mineralisation have remained largely concealed beneath more than 30 metres of transported Eocene sediments, leaving it relatively unexplored.
Adjacent tenements, explored by the IGO and Rumble Resources joint venture, have reported significant gold intercepts, particularly at the Themis prospect just north of the Mystique boundary.
Notable results include drill intersections of 25 metres at 2.42 grams per tonne (g/t) and 16 metres at 6.69g/t.
West Cobar Metals managing director Matt Szwedzicki commented: “We are delighted to have completed the acquisition of the Mystique Gold Project.
“The tenement comprises a key land area with exceptional and immediate potential for both shallow saprolite hosted and large-scale basement hosted gold deposits.
“We have identified two high-priority targets, which justify immediate exploration drilling.”
The company’s immediate plans at Mystique include drill testing for palaeochannel/saprolite and bedrock gold mineralisation, with a focus on areas likely to extend southwards into the Themis South Prospect.
Additionally, West Cobar aims to define significant gold targets in both saprolite and basement rocks at the Torquata Prospect, with a drill programme currently in preparation to pursue these priorities.
In parallel developments, MinRex recently announced that West Cobar Metals has begun a reverse circulation (RC) drilling programme at the Fraser Range Project, located about 120 kilometres north-east of Esperance.
This campaign, fully funded by MinRex with a commitment of up to A$500,000 ($324,642), will target five high-priority copper-gold sites within the Biranup Zone, which is geologically linked to the renowned Fraser Zone and the Nova-Bollinger nickel-copper discovery.
The agreement could see MinRex earn up to a 50 per cent stake in the project.
The Mystique and Fraser Range projects underscore West Cobar Metals’ strategic focus on unlocking the mineral potential of underexplored regions in Western Australia.
