Liontown Resources said its first online auction for spodumene concentrate showed improvement in the market for raw lithium material.
Liontown sold 10,000 wet metric tonnes of spodumene concentrate in its first online auction.
The auction attracted over 50 qualified buyers from nine countries, with a winning bid of US$1,254 per dry metric tonne, for delivery in January 2026.
Liontown held the action through digital commodities platform Metalshub.
Liontown CEO Tony Ottaviano said the auction result was “outstanding and a clear validation” of the company’s strategy.
“Today’s outcome demonstrates the market is improving and buyers have confidence to engage competitively when given a fair and open platform,” he said.
“We believe a transparent, tangible and auditable digital auction would strengthen price discovery for spodumene concentrate.”
The company plans to hold further online auctions on the Metalshub platform into 2026 and beyond as part of ongoing operations.
