Mentally healthy workplaces make good business sense and benefit individuals and businesses, the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry said.
Kate Carnell AO, CEO of the Australian Chamber, said: “Everyone has a role in building mentally healthy workplaces, and business is doing its part.
“Research shows that mentally healthy workplaces are productive places to work and have high morale, meaning they attract and retain good people.
“The Australian Chamber network supports businesses to create sustainable, productive, mentally healthy workplaces.
“We are a founder and active partner in the Mentally Healthy Workplace Alliance, a national effort by business, community and government to encourage Australian workplaces to become mentally healthy for the benefit of the whole community and of businesses big and small.
“As a member of the Alliance, along with beyondblue, the Australian Chamber proudly supports the Heads Up campaign. The Heads Up Return on Investment tool, which calculates the potential cost savings of a mentally healthy workplace, is particularly useful.
“This flexible tool can be tailored to any business, large and small, and used by managers, directors and employees.
“The Heads Up website offers clear and solid guidance that includes a practical and adaptable action plan for mentally healthy workplaces.
“Even simple steps can make a big difference. It’s important that business gets the right advice. Now is the time to take action.”
