Marquee Resources has reported promising exploration results from its West Spargoville Project (WSP) in Western Australia, uncovering high-grade lithium rock-chip assays alongside a newly identified two-kilometre untested gold trend.
A recent field sampling program returned high-grade lithium results, with 10 of 49 rock-chip samples yielding grades above 1 per cent lithium oxide.
Peak results included sample assays of 2.65 per cent and 2.42 per cent lithium oxide collected across multiple mapped pegmatite trends within a 1.5-kilometre by 1.5-kilometre target area.
Continuous chip sampling perpendicular to strike has allowed Marquee to refine its three-dimensional geological model.
The updated interpretation indicates that the stacked pegmatites strike northeast-southwest and dip steeply to the northwest.
Historical reverse circulation (RC) drilling was predominantly east-directed and oblique to this geometry, leaving priority positions unassessed.
In addition to lithium, sampling identified historical workings and gold-bearing rock-chip samples returning up to 1.20 grams per tonne gold from quartz-breccia float within an untested two-kilometre gold-in-soil corridor.
The gold prospect also sits outside Marquee’s lithium joint venture with Mineral Resources Ltd., allowing Marquee to retain 100 per cent ownership of the gold exploration upside while holding a 75 per cent interest in the lithium rights.
Marquee Executive Chairman and Managing Director Charles Thomas said the dual commodity targets provide substantial exploration upside for the company.
“Ten rock-chip samples above 1 per cent lithium oxide across multiple pegmatite trends give us a strong foundation for the next phase of lithium exploration,” Thomas said.
“The gold opportunity adds another exciting dimension. We have identified historical workings and gold-bearing samples within a two-km gold-in-soil trend that has never been drilled, with the gold rights wholly retained by Marquee.”
The company is finalising a re-oriented 2,000-metre RC drilling program to test the depth continuity of the lithium pegmatites at optimal angles.
Pending final approvals, Marquee plans to execute initial drill testing of the gold corridor alongside the lithium campaign.
