Fortescue Ltd (ASX: FMG) has announced significant changes to its executive team and organisational structure as part of its ongoing efforts to streamline operations by implementing measures to remove duplication and deliver cost efficiencies as it integrates its metals and energy divisions into “One Fortescue”.
Apple Paget, who has been serving as Acting Chief Financial Officer for the past 11 months, has been appointed as the Group Chief Financial Officer.
Paget, who joined Fortescue in January 2023 as Group Manager Finance and Tax, brings 25 years of experience as a finance executive to the role.
Shelley Robertson, previously the Chief Corporate Officer, has been promoted to the position of Chief Operating Officer.
Robertson, who joined Fortescue in October 2023, has an impressive 30-year career spanning oil and gas, mining, and renewable energy sectors.
In addition, Navdeep (Mona) Gill has been appointed as the Company Secretary, replacing Phil McKeiver, who will continue in his role as Chief General Counsel.
Gill, who has been with Fortescue since 2021 as Legal Manager and Assistant Company Secretary, brings 20 years of legal experience from both government and private practice.
These appointments are part of Fortescue’s broader initiative to simplify its structure and improve operational efficiency.
As part of the company’s restructuring, approximately 700 positions across its global operations will be made redundant by the end of July 2024, thereby “ensuring the company remains lean and agile in its pursuit of becoming the world’s leading green technology, energy, and metals company”.
Fortescue has confirmed the comopany remains committed to its goal of achieving Real Zero emissions by 2030.
The company also emphasised its dedication to diversity, stating that the streamlined One Fortescue team will reflect the company’s board composition, comprising nearly 50 per cent women.
New targets will be implemented to drive diversity across the business.
