The Western Australian government has unveiled a new initiative aimed at propelling local innovation and technology companies into the United States market.
Innovation and Digital Economy Minister Stephen Dawson announced that applications are now open for the Global Growth Accelerator Program for Critical Tech, offering a unique opportunity for start-ups and scale-ups to expand their horizons.
The program, which will run over three months, is designed to cater to companies specialising in critical technologies, mining and energy technologies, and other sectors with dual-use applications.
Combining virtual and in-person components, the accelerator will provide participants with invaluable tools, knowledge, and networks to refine their go-to-market strategies and gain access to US customers and investors.
Selected businesses will have the chance to engage with industry leaders, potential customers, investors, and strategic partners, laying the groundwork for their US market expansion.
The program is set to commence in December 2024 and will culminate with participants taking an active role at the prestigious South by Southwest (SXSW) 2025 event.
Minister Dawson emphasised the timeliness of this initiative, stating: “We know we have a local innovation ecosystem that is fast being recognised internationally as a global leader in automation, robotics and remote operations. Now is the right time to showcase this talent.”
The accelerator program, led by Invest and Trade Western Australia, aims to capitalise on the state’s burgeoning critical technologies sector.
“Western Australia has an amazing critical technologies sector which is reflected in our local economy,” Dawson added.
“And this accelerator program will enable locally based companies to take the next step and be seen on the global stage.”
This initiative aligns with the Western Australian government’s broader strategy to position the state as a hub for innovation and technological advancement.
The state government’s commitment to fostering international connections and promoting local talent is evident in this program, which promises to be a significant stepping stone for WA-based tech companies seeking to make their mark on the global stage.
