Empire Metals Ltd. has confirmed its Pitfield project in Western Australia as the world’s largest publicly reported titanium resource following a significant upgrade to its JORC 2012 mineral resource estimate.
The global mineral resource now stands at an extraordinary 8.16 billion tonnes at 4.3 per cent titanium dioxide, containing 349 million tonnes of contained titanium across the Thomas and Cosgrove deposits.
The update delivers Pitfield’s maiden measured resource of 374 million tonnes at 5.8 per cent titanium, bringing Measured and Indicated categories to 3.96 billion tonnes, representing nearly half of the total resource.
The asset represents a major near-surface development opportunity, featuring a weathered zone of 4.39 billion tonnes at 4.4 per cent titanium starting directly from the surface with minimal overburden.
High-grade mineralisation averaging over 6 per cent titanium extends across a five-kilometre strike length at Thomas and over four kilometres at Cosgrove, which will serve as primary targets for early mine planning.
“Western Australia now hosts the world’s largest publicly reported titanium resource,” said Managing Director Shaun Bunn.
“This upgrade moves Pitfield beyond an exploration story, with our first Measured Resource providing the confidence needed to advance mine planning, processing and economic studies.
“The scale is clearly important, but the quality of the upgrade is equally significant. Almost four billion tonnes is now in the Measured and Indicated categories, while the high-grade weathered material begins at surface and remains central to the way we are approaching development.”
The upgraded MRE increases confidence in the scale and continuity of the titanium mineralisation at Pitfield.
Titanium is listed on Australia’s Critical Minerals List and is vital for pigments, advanced manufacturing, aerospace, defence, and medical technologies. Empire has already demonstrated a processing route capable of producing high-purity titanium using conventional methods.
Empire, which holds a 70 per cent operating interest in the joint venture, is currently preparing for a planned ASX dual listing in the second half of 2026.
Further drilling and technical studies are underway targeting an additional resource update in mid-2027.
