Intra Energy Corporation Limited (ASX: IEC) has announced the successful completion of its drilling program at the high-priority Maggie Hays Hill (MHH) Project in Western Australia’s Lake Johnston Greenstone Belt.
The program, which targeted both lithium and gold prospects, has yielded promising initial results.
The drilling campaign comprised 1,960 metres of reverse circulation (RC) drilling, with 1,300 metres dedicated to testing lithium-bearing pegmatites and 660 metres targeting gold-associated quartz reefs.
Multiple pegmatite intersections were observed along a two-kilometre strike length, with some holes reporting combined pegmatite intervals up to 19 metres wide.
Todd Hibberd, Principal Geologist at IEC, expressed enthusiasm about the campaign’s success: “Having spent 21 days in the field supervising the drilling program, I think the campaign has been a resounding success. Multiple intervals of pegmatite were intersected in most holes, with some holes containing combined intersections up to 19 metres wide.”
The gold-focused drilling also yielded positive results, with quartz vein intervals encountered in most of the holes drilled.
Drill samples have been submitted to the laboratory, with assay results expected by early September 2024.
Ben Dunn, Managing Director of IEC, commented on the completion of the drilling program: “We are particularly pleased with the initial geological field reports and the quantum of pegmatite and quartz intersections in the drilling. Assay results are keenly anticipated in early September, and the company will keep investors fully appraised as results become available.”
The Maggie Hays Hill Project, in which IEC holds an 80 per cent stake, is strategically located adjacent to the Norseman-Hyden Road and the Maggie Hays and Emily Anne nickel mines.
The project area is characterised by extensively faulted mafic and ultramafic rocks, bounded by younger granitic rocks to the west and east.
It is considered prospective for lithium, nickel, and gold, with geological mapping identifying multiple lithium-bearing pegmatite dykes and gold-bearing quartz reefs.
Situated within the Lake Johnston Lithium Province, the MHH Project is located 25 kilometres north of recent spodumene discoveries at Burmeister Hill and Lake Medcalf.
This strategic position, combined with the promising initial drilling results, underscores the potential significance of the project for Intra Energy Corporation’s exploration portfolio.
As the company awaits the assay results, investors and industry observers will be closely monitoring developments at the Maggie Hays Hill Project, which could have significant implications for IEC’s future in the lithium and gold exploration sectors.
