Critical mineral explorer, Litchfield Minerals Limited (ASX: LMS), has announced the discovery of several new chargeability targets at the historic Mount Irene Mine in Canada.
The findings, revealed after a successful Gradient Array Induced Polarisation (GAIP) survey in March 2024, signify a significant breakthrough in the company’s exploration efforts.
The GAIP survey, known for its precision and depth, has identified multiple new chargeability targets extending towards the northwest (NW) of Mount Irene.
These targets indicate the potential for substantial extensions to the known mineralised reefs, opening new avenues for exploration and development.
Among the key highlights of the GAIP survey is the identification of new chargeability targets, suggesting the presence of extensive mineralisation beyond the current reefs.
Additionally, the results indicate a probable trend correlating with known surface outcrops, hinting at significant extensions of the mineralised zones.
In line with its commitment to innovation, Litchfield Minerals plans to apply for an Innovative Targeting Grant from the Northern Territory Geological Survey (NTGS).
The grant aims to fund an IP survey extending from Mount Irene to the Clark Mines to the west, further enhancing the company’s exploration capabilities.
An upcoming aeromagnetic and radiometric survey covering 290 square kilometres is also scheduled to commence in mid-April.
This survey is expected to provide a comprehensive geological interpretation and identify new exploration targets.
Commenting on the success of the GAIP survey, Litchfield Minerals Managing Director Matthew Pustahya expressed optimism about the company’s exploration efforts.
He highlighted the alignment of the chargeability high with the Mount Irene mine workings and the company’s plans to extend the survey coverage to the west, reaching the Clark Mines prospect.
“The survey data has revealed a chargeability high that aligns with the Mount Irene mine workings, trending approximately 110 degrees magnetic.
“The positive outcomes of this GAIP survey have bolstered our confidence significantly. As a result, we are preparing to apply for an Innovative Targeting Grant through the NTGS.
“Our goal is to extend the survey coverage by five kilometres to the west, reaching the Clark Mines prospect,” said Pustahya.
Litchfield Minerals is renowned for its commitment to sustainable exploration practices and stakeholder collaboration.
The company’s focus on cutting-edge technology and responsible practices underscores its dedication to redefining industry standards and delivering value to investors, communities, and the world.
With its recent discoveries at Mount Irene, Litchfield Minerals is poised to advance its exploration efforts and unlock the full potential of copper and other critical minerals, ensuring their availability for future generations.
